Most prop manufactures make claims that their prop shape / tip / 
airfoil / etc. is more efficient than a competitor but I've seen or 
heard of very few head to head comparisons to prove the point.  As 
far as blade pitch, I think if you look at any fixed pitch prop 
you'll find the pitch much greater at the base than at the tip.  Walk 
the line the next time you're at the airport and check it out.
