I know someone that got into a spin after a botched loop.  He said that
it would not recover until he grabbed the bottom of the instrument panel
and pulled himself as far forward as he could go.  That story makes me a
bit leary of trying a spin in a KR.

The simple answer is probably no. A few builders claim to have spun 
their KR but many, probably most, have not. If you plan to spin test 
yours make sure you know what you are doing and take all precautions
necessary.
