I remember Willie. Great story, neat guy. I had a chance to talk to him on a
couple of occasions.

I actually met him at Sun N Fun many years ago. He came to Georgetown some
years back on his way from somewhere and to somewhere else. I thought it was
pretty neat that he made the effort and side trip to stop and see me and my KR.
I took him up for a short ride and we talked and I enjoyed listening to his
stories.

It is always sad to hear of someones passing and especially more so when that
someone had a chance to touch your life even if for only a brief moment in time.

God bless his wife and family.

KR netters,

I received word via e-mail that long time KR2 builder and flier,
Willie Wilson, lost his battle with cancer on June 14. Willie and
his lovely wife, Margaret, attended many of the KR Gatherings over
the years and always earned their spot as one of the finest memories
of the Gathering. Those of you that didn't get to meet Willie
personally might remember him speaking to the group in the hangar at
the 2010 Gathering at Richmond, Kentucky. I have considered Willie a
friend since our first meeting at the 1990 Gathering at Rough River,
Kentucky and was fortunate to have Willie and Margaret spend time
with Sallie and I in our home on one of their visits to the U.S.

Willie grew up on a small farm in Scotland, entered into aviation at
a young age, and finished his career flying 747's for British
Airways. Willie always had a story to share and it was a delight to
hear him share them with anyone that asked. I personally, and the
entire aviation community, especially the KR community, have lost an
irreplaceable friend.

Larry Flesner
