I turned my lady over a week or two ago to change the u/c to tricycle. All good. Except I noticed several skin cracks radiating from the square cornered cut outs in the wing skins. Now they have lasted a while ... my a/c first flew in 1989 I think and the plans are dated 1982. I'm not sure when all the cut-outs were done as the a/c has had several different u/c layouts, but I reckon the cut out over the aileron pulley near the WAFs has probably been in for the whole time, and that crack was several inches long .... almost as far as the u/c cut-out actually.
So out with the drill for the stop holes and in with the flox and glass reinforcing ... but I bet it wouldn't have happened if the holes had had radiused corners to start with ...... Cheers Martin Martin Pearce KR2 19 - 7814 rocketdri...@optusnet.com.au
