I started construction of my KR-2 in 1986. After getting it on the gear, I
converted from plans built conventional retract gear to fixed tri-cycle gear
using the Diehl gear leg struts and brackets. The hydraulic brakes will
require installation of brake pedals. Larry Flesner has a nice set up for
the pedals and master cylinders. I am in-process of re-working my original
brake pedals to copy Larry's approach for better brake control. The
original KR pedals were not wide enough for my wide shoes to fit between the
arms and the master cylinders.
My advice: For whatever design you may come up with, hold your shoe against
the pedal and make sure it fits for every possible combination of rudder arm
movement and master cylinder actuation. And your shoe does not slip off the
pedal. Make sure you can reliably operate the rudder without applying
brakes; cross wind landing with a brake applied could ruin your whole day.

I have an older KR2 with retractable gear and mechanical brakes, I just
bought a pair of wheels and hydraulic brakes from Matco. My intention is to
convert to hydraulic, has anybody out there done this? I could use all the
help I can get. I'm not a home builder, I'm trying to get this 1986 mod.KR2
up and flying, I think the best I can tell from the paper work I have If I
do I'll be the first to do so. The mod. wheels I have from Matco is WHLW50CC
with internal calipers.
