Its been a few years but I believe it was a Uni-directional fiberglass cloth.
UNI-Cloth Fiberglass Part no. 01-00535. Aircraft Spruce.
I would not try to remove the existing, just smooth out, fill any voids (epoxy
with flox - not micro) and add another layer on top.

My partially complete kr2s came with diehl tricycle gear. The fiberglass
on the struts has voids and holes and I would like to remove it and replace
it. The diehl website and the instructions refer to the glass as a special
bias...does anyone know what the glass is and does anyone have any
suggestions on how to remove and replace it?
