That's what I've been finding. It cost around $50 per year for the rider.
I was curious who the best underwriters for such stuff is.

The AOPA has discount AD&D insurance for members, bit it looks like the EAA
only has aircraft insurance but I could be wrong. At least I didn't see it
listed as a benefit.

Standard life insurance will not cover you. You must have a ryder which
states that you are a pilot and are flying experimental aircraft or
certified which ever the case may be. I have life insurance with three
different companies and they all require a ryder to cover you. On average,
they ryder cost me about $55 a year on each policy. It is your
responsibility to make sure you are covered with a ryder. The insurance
company will not ask you. It is also your responsibility to make sure you
are covered so your loved ones will be taken care of in the event you perish
in an airplane you are piloting. Also, there is a clause in all life
insurance stating that if you comit suicide in the first two years of the
policy it will not pay.
