Hi Willie The pane is called a GK1 and it was designed and built by Garthe Kopke (GK). It was built here in Port Elizabeth and finished off on a farm in the Wilderness area by Garth. He used to fly crop dusters for a living and was hired to help fight the huge veld fires in Lesotho Just after he finished the plane. He somehow managed to crash the fire bomber he was flying and was killed. It was said that when he was found both of his hands were severed at the wrist. Investigations concluded that he clipped a tree top in the dense smoke damaging an aileron. The theory was that the stick beat his hands off due to severe flutter. I had the privelage of meeting him a few times, a really nice guy. The workmanship on the plane was outstanding. GK1 is powered by a HONDA ballade 1600 motor and has a cooling system much like the P51. I am not certain but I have heard reports of speeds in the region of 240mph. I have copies of all Garth's sketches and drawings for his highly modified version of the KR1
