My name is Barrett Flowers and I'm the newest newbie to the list. Though I am now retired, my background is Industrial Maintenance Technology. I've been looking at a lot of different homebuilt aircraft and have finally decided on the KR2S, with modifications and the Corvair engine. I'm still in the very early planning stages and taking notes. I'll try to not ask any stupid questions, but you can bet I will from time to time. I think my one big challenge will be to reverse my mind set of industry in that anything worth building is worth over-building. I've never tried to put my mind on a weight diet, so that is something I am going to have to learn. I currently hunt meteorites when I have the time and inclination, and the rest of the time is taken up with riding my newest Harley- a FLTRU 2011 Road Glide Ultra 103, a truly great road bike if there ever was one. I have a 30'x40' workshop with 11' ceilings in it that I will be building the KR in, and have most every tool that I need.I hope (an so does my wife). If- up death, the guy with the most tools wins.well- I'll make a good showing of it. I started flying in my late teens and early 20's. Got married, kids work and Corvettes took up all my time and "flying money", so I've not flown since then- but I will never forget the experiences that I did have back then, and can't wait to do it again. Unfortunately- the only way I can get back into flying and afford it is to build and maintain it myself, so that's what I am getting ready to do. At least now I have the time, if nothing else. Anyway- I'll sit back and lurk and learn and try not to be too big of pain in the ass in the meantime. When I do start the build, I'll document it online and eagerly seek advice, especially from some of you more inclined to engineering and numbers as that is my main weak spot. Thanks for having my on the list and I'll try to do what I can to be a productive member! :-)
