As I continue to research the stock retracts on the KR, I've learned
some things from looking at how Glenda Mcelwee designed her retracts
(even though eventually she went with the Diehl gear). I like her
locking mechanism ideas. I keep hearing about how hard landings can
overload and possibly bend the landing gear. I think that a rubber
bumper attached to the main spar can be used to absorb the shock and
limit the upward travel of the landing gear spring ends on a hard
landing. Also a 1' x16" or so length of additional 7075 could be used
at the landing gear ends to stiffen it. I can see where camber and toe
in could be put in as needed with proper shimming. Just some ideas.
