The length of the coaxial cable should not make any difference so long 
as the antenna is adjusted properly. I have a recommendation for 
everyone. Many Amateur Radio operators have a 'MFJ VHF antenna analyzer" 
(or some such antenna analyzer, grid dip meter, swr meter,etc) and would 
likely be happy to assist you in getting your antenna length cut for the 
proper length. Call your local Amateur Radio Club, explain that you are 
trying to get your aircraft VHF comm antenna adjusted properly  and see 
if there is someone with an analyzer who would be willing to help. That 
really is the easiest way to be certain: use a pro. Hand the guy 50 or 
so  bucks for his trouble. I'm already doing that on a Wag Aero Sport 
Trainer at the local airport.
