One thing to be aware of is that if you want to renew on-line, you must do it by a different deadline give in the letter. You don't have until your expiration date to do it ON-LINE. I learned this the hard way.

As Lee said, the FAA will send you a letter, if nothing has changed on your registration, you can renew it on line using a special number in the FAA letter
