Since you have the N number, is it registered to you, if not, get that done and contact your FSDO. They will send you the necessary paperwork for getting the temporary airworthiness certificate. You need to find a DAR who will come and do that inspection. At that time, your plane must be ready to fly with all paperwork filled out properly. All decals must have been applied to the plane, like the experimental notice and the one that goes under or near the tail. Be sure that your N number that is painted on the plane follows the required format, which is detailed in the paperwork you get from the FSDO....
I wish someone else, more knowledgeable of the details on this would chime in here. I am going from memory on this and it was back in 2005 when I last did it. Check the archives, because I know there were many posts on this subject that helped me a lot at that time. The flying thing is another story. If your KR is conventional gear, then you will need the tail wheel endorsement, which in some parts of the country is easy to get and in others is almost impossible to find someone to check you out and give the endorsement. But we can get to that later after you get all this registration and other paperwork stuff out of the way.
