KRnetHeads, We talked about having a "race" Saturday morning at the Gathering, weather permitting. Jeff Lange worked out the details for us a few years ago, and they're posted at http://www.krnet.org/misc/KRGatheringPerformance.pdf . It's not called a race because you don't have to run wide open if you don't want to, although some folks will want to. This allows you to gauge your progress in streamlining or sharpening piloting skills in order to improve performance from one year to the next. Planes depart the starting line in order of expected finish time, so the gaps between planes should grow throughout the short run, enhancing safety. I think everybody who's done it has enjoyed the experience, and I'm looking forward to it again this year.
