You think those plans are lacking try the one's I bought in 1973 for the KR 1
four sheets and a green book telling you how to build it.

You're not the first guy to wonder these things, and you won't be the last.
A lot of these planes have been built and flown, despite the poor state of
the plans.  Those plans is the reason I built my website, the first one
devoted to KR construction.   If you look hard enough in the plans notebook
for the KR2, you'll find mention of joining the fuselage sides up to the
vertical stabilizer's aft spar to finish forming the boat.  This is the
width of the fuselage back at the place where the rudder fastens (it's a
tapered piece that's something like 2" wide on average).  Taper the spar
first, and leave the plywood overlapping a bit to provide a gap seal for the
rudder.  So use the farthest aft measurement that's given for a cross member
as your last known point, and then the tailpiece, and the other cross pieces
are just cut to fit.  I'd give better directions, but I'm at work and the
plans are at home.

As for tri-gear, that fits under the same heading as a lot of things...you
don't get the one-sheet plans for it unless you bought the optional parts
themselves from Rand Robinson.  Diehl sold most of the nose gear, and his
instructions are online at
http://www.diehlaero.com/NOSE%20GEAR%20INSTRUCTIONS.pdf .  I think Steve
?Glover at NVAero is now selling that gear.  I'll let him clarify.

There's a lot of guesswork building a KR from those plans, so better get
used to it now...
