When using lumber other than aircraft grade Sitka Spruce make sure it is not Kiln dried as it is very brittle. I think all aircraft spruce is air dried. I once tried to make a shooting bow with ash from a local good lumber store. It broke as soon as I tried to bend it for the string. Al
