When you put on your cowling top and it bends the material in the shape
dictated by the cowling, will it stay in that shape, or will it always
spring back to flat.

I built my own using fiberglass and silicone. While they are nice, they
will not keep the form, so I am always having to bend them in when I put the
top back on. I won't make that mistake again.

Brown aircraft has been manufacturing gap seals and baffling for 50 + years.

Josh is also one of the nicest guys to work with.

I used 2 inch fiberglass tape and hi-temp RTV to make my baffle seals
and they have performed flawless lee for 400+ hours now. I was able
to build them for 1/4 the cost of purchasing them. Four layers of
the tape, each impregnated with RTV using a squeegee, is the right
thickness. I think I used 24 feet of the material for the 0-200. I
made them in 4 foot sections. Lay the first tape on a stick free
surface, squeegee in the RTV, add a second layer of tape and
repeat. When the last layer is applied, turn the entire piece over
and do the bottom side. Don't worry about pretty edges. You will
cut them straight after the RTV is curred. I clipped one end to a
high shelf and let them hang vertically to cure. I learned the
technique at one of the early Gatherings. Make sure you attend this
fall to pick up a lot of tips and shortcuts.
