If you meant to say that mahogany plywood is lighter than birch plywood, that's true, but I believe the plans call for birch plywood on the spar faces, rather than mahogany. Mahogany is fine on the fuselage, however, and a great place to save a little weight, at a cost. I used mahogany for my fuselage sides.
