Yes I guess I should have given you my philosophy on my panel.  First this is a 
VFR only panel.  Second, I am an old school steam gauge guy.  The only reason I 
added the D6 was for the ADI display and it makes a nice backup for the other 
flight instruments.  My panel and electrical is being designed so that if I 
loose the DC power from the JD dynamo or mre likely the voltage regulator then 
I can isolate the power buss so all the battery needs to power is the coil and 
lighting.  The weight is what it will be and I will deal with the penalty by 
some other trade off.
