The best way to heat treat an engine mount is to take a welding torch in one
hand and a long handled magnet in the other. With the engine mount secured
and a carburizing flame on the torch apply heat to the welded area until it
becomes non magnetic, remove the flame and let it cool down gradually. The
metal will glow to a dull red when the local magnetism ceases. Do this with
each welded joint to relieve internal stresses.

What are your thoughts on the need to have an engine mount of 4130 that has
been TIG welded normalized?
