You can have it both ways by buying a "breakaway" steerable tailwheel. The one most of us use is the Aviation Products 4" tailwheel. And my advice would be to buy direct from them, rather than from Wicks or Aircraft Spruce. Aircraft Products is less expensive, and has much better bearings in their wheel, and with grease in it.
