I wanted to say thanks and a much appreciated to everyone and I feel honored to have received recognition for my plane.
Those who read any of my posts last week know I have seemed to have a curse that kept me from getting my plane to the gathering and this year was no exception. As I have a broken foot and just recovered from a broken wrist as well and.I had a tach that went dead last minute, other gremlins and needing to get a few things put back together this year. Most of the past years it is something along the lines of work or personal things that keep me from attending. I want to give a big thanks to Dan Heath who stepped in at the last minute to supply me with a tachometer as mine died just prior to the gathering and I could not get one shipped in time to make the gathering. I also want to say thanks to fellow KR member Mike Warner who stepped in and spent many long hours last week helping me get everything put back together on my KR and even stepped in to fly it for me as I can not get my broken foot under the panel. In fact since my ankle is broken and my heal is shattered, I can not operate rudder pedals. I admit that I have spent way to much time doing and redoing things on my KR and much of that has to do with paint and other cosmetics. Some may have noticed that I did not have enough time to wet sand and buff all the rest of my plane before this years event. I just couldn't figure out how to wet sand, then hold a buffer all while balancing and holding two crutches. plus until just a couple of weeks ago having a cast on my left arm too. I know. I should leave it alone and just fly it. But, I guess my quest for paint perfection and attention to detail shows. I have some ideas on how to improve my firewall forward and even some interior improvements before next years gathering. But I have come to realize the Gathering is like a big event like a wedding or a graduation or something. What I mean is you plan and anticipate for months. You spend and spend to get everything you need done or completed. Then you travel and all, and then when you get there you don't know how to get enough time to meet or talk to everyone you want to and by the time you get to understand who is who and who you want to chat with, its all over and you have to go home. Well, I hope the gathering curse is behind me, that with all the months I have for this badly busted foot to heal, that I will get to see ya all next year. One more thing. I think Mt Vernon is an awesome place. Kudos to Larry and Chris and all. So Mt Vernon 2011 it is. Georgetown Scott County 27K for 2012 !!!! Jeff York KR-2 Lexington, KY.
