I used 6 inches nominal spacing, but changed some bolt locations so that the bolt heads on the hinge halves would not hit each other during full aileron down deflection. I used captive nut plates instead of stop nuts in the aileron spars so that the hinge halves would be easily removable; I can remove an aileron without having to remove the wing. Otherwise the aileron hinge pin could not be pulled without removing the wing.
