Not to beat a dead horse here, but one thing I think someone is missing is that though you increased the wing area, you are decreasing wing loading, and I believe that in itself would be compensate for the shear and bending moments mentioned earlier.

The Diehl wing skins are significantly longer than the stock wings, and there is no "beefing" required, and I know of NO incidents attributed to the longer wings.
