Hey Guys,
I saw a post over the weekend that was doing the math for fuel burn and the
associated hp produced. I have not written a lot of things down that i know
about my plane so i took the opertunity on the way home yesterday to check fuel
burn and no I have not done the math so who ever does it will be a surprise for
me too. Any way here is the information.
Took off full throttle set up for 800ft/min climb.-- alt. 30.06-- airport elev.
680 -- rpm 2970 -- fuel burn for first 1000 7.8 gph
the fuel burn dropped off steady as i maintained the climb and rpm and I leaned
constantly untio reaching 7500 ft
At 7500 I stayed full throttle and let everything settle down as far as
cylinder, exhaust and oil temps which only took a couple minutes.
the fuel burn with every thing in steady state and leaned to the normal 1340
and little carb heat on to richen and be able to lean out. The fuel burn was
4.8 gph -- rpm 3170 -- true air speed 166 mph-- OAT 35 f
