I have a KR2 that I purchased, the Matco wheels were still in the box with an
extra set of tubes. One of the wheels had been out of the box and one of the
tubes had been pinched, explaining the other set. I tried every trick on the
Matco site, and some of my own, to assemble the wheels without pinching the
tube. I finally built a press with plywood and all thread and it worked great.
There is a 7 1/2" hole on the plywood plates and 4 3/8" (11+" Dia) all thread
that clamp/compress the tire and tube to clear the joint of the wheel halves. I
don't recall the particulars because it was so long ago, but after the halves
are together and the bolts snug, release the clamping pressure and seat the
bead. If you want, I'll send you a picture of the press. It is really very
simple. I wonder why it took so long to come up with the idea?
