Lots of practice! There are a few simple tricks, such as keeping the canopy
clean and scratchfree, wearing dark clothes and having nothing shiny in the
cockpit (the next one will be all black inside), and for times when the
glare can't be killed I use the giant rubber lens hood that I suck up to the
canopy to completely eliminate it. Another trick that works well when the
sun is low is to bank hard enough to put the wing between the canopy and the
sun, and all glare disappears. The original reason for the lens hood was to
keep me from scratching the inside of the canopy with the end of the lense,
and it does great at that also, so it stays on the camera at all times.
Also, I take control of the camera by taking it off automatic and set ISO
speed, shutter speed, and aperture to whatever it needs to be to eliminate
blurring the image. The image stabilized lense I bought last year helps by
3 f-stops, which equals three shutter speeds lower, but I took a lot of good
pictures before I bought that expensive lense.

Well I've been called a "failed pilot" before, and today I added a few more
to the list while visiting my father's grass strip. I decided yesterday
that if I hit that dam at 250 mph the prop hub might make a dent about a
half inch by a half inch, by about 3/8" deep. At the risk of starting a TSA
thread that will never end, I've been saying for years that we'd all end up
putting our belongings in clear plastic bags and wearing gov't issue Tyvec
coveralls on airliners, but my wife corrected me the other day and said "no,
it'll be skimpy hospital gowns, and we'll be in handcuffs". That image
really cracks me up.

Today I added another 3 hours under the KR belt, now approaching 850 KR
flying hours...
