Hi Dene,
In a motorglider one is caught between a stone and a hard place.Ample
cooling, intakes, eyebrows, vertical gills, are fine to cool the engine but when
you stand on the wingtip and corkscrew up in a thermal, engine off,the drag of
this cooling will degrade the gliding performance and worse still introduce
shock cooling to the engine. Therefore I suggest that you make all these cooling
devices so that they can be closed off to prevent shock cooling, engine off.and
streamline the aircraft so as not to degrade gliding performance. These opening
and closing devices are easy to make and operate.Just my few cents worth ,also
for KR 2 motorgliders.
