Hi Marc.  I think Sam built three.  I think one he donated to his local
museum there in Kansas.  Another one is owned by Ken Cottle and has been
much improved, and you've got the third.  I've seen your plane when it
was based at KSDM.  Are you sure you don't have an alternator?  I think
you do.

To answer your question, my KT-76A transponder with an ACK encoder only
draws 1.5 amps as per test with load meter.  So it's not a demanding
accessory.  I've got the older 20 amp-at-3600 RPM Diehl alternator, which
means I'm probably putting out only about 12 amps at 3000 cruise.  The
electronic ignition at low RPM is the biggest daytime electrical user at
5-6 amps.
