Yes, it is compatible with auto gas. I don't know about McMaster Carr having the specific rivet but I'd be surprised it they did not. The rivet has a solid head and is integral in having a leak free tank. Since you would be ordering the tank sealant from Van's anyway.......they carry the exact rivet for the job.
