Ah. It really is in how you ask the question. I didn't see a question asking for a recommendation. Lots of guys jumped on my reply, apparently thinking I was recommending polyester resin. I only answered that it clearly is usable in aircraft fuel tanks and cited where it has been used successfully for many decades. If the question had been asking for a recommendation, my answer would have been much different. However, since there are so many opinions and so many willing to share them, justified or not, I generally don't answer questions asking for a recommendation.

I didn't know for sure how it would really stand up. around here all our car gas has 10% alcohol in it from Oct to April for "smog" reasons (like it really helps) and he has had his airplane for two years now. perhaps he's not telling me the whole story because I suspect he has sloshing sealer in it also as he had a few leaks to start with that he said he fixed. Notwithstanding, I haven't actually looked inside his tank either. we can by Vinyl ester here locally from the DuPont paint store, but I think I am going with Mark Jones's aluminum for reliability, plus I can't imagine them being any heavier than glassed tank.
