NetHeads,

Jeff Lange has mentioned that he'd show up in person this year if we wanted to
do another of those "performance evaluations" that we did two years ago. This
is not a race....cover it at your own pace, but times will be kept. It'll be
the same triangular course between MVN and two other nearby airports. We've
scheduled it for departing at 8:30 Saturday morning, weather permitting. It's
open to anything that started from KR plans, at the very least. We'll need 2-3
"time keepers" to keep up with takeoff and landing times. Folks with
stopwatches are encouraged to bring them. More details later, such as the
airport identifiers to key into GPS's. Mine should be a little slower this
year, because I have more of a cruise prop on it (54x58 Sensenich). The 54x54
allowed me turn it up to 4000 rpm and get some real power out of that Corvair.
Jones will running that one this year, unless he bags another deer between now
and then.

It's probably time to remind folks that if you'd like to host the Gathering
next year (2010), this is the year you have to pitch it to the KR builders and
pilots assembled at the KR Banquet Saturday night, Sept 19th at MVN airport.
See http://www.krgathering.org/ for more details on the KR Gathering. Rest
assured that if you want to hold it on the moon, you'll have no complaints from
me, but you will have to get the majority of the attendees to vote for it over
MVN. It never hurts to try. Selling it in advance on KRnet would get you a
long way towards that goal, rather than throwing it out there "cold" on Banquet
night. Larry still needs a rest.

I was looking through some pictures from last year's Gathering and came across
this one at http://www.krnet.org/misc/070923069.jpg . Who needs enemies when
you have friends like these?
