2.5 years ago I had a forced landing in a field where I hit a contour and folded the undercarriage. This resulted ion the wing hitting the ground hard enough to snap the last foot off. After a though inspection the wing attachment fittings are still perfect and I am re-using them. Where the wing attachment fitting bolts to the spar shows no signs of movement or stress, therefore I am not even taking them off. I am quite satisfied (even impressed) with the strength of the KR2 wings, carry through spar and wing attachment fittings.
I have all but completed the rebuild. All that is left is: - replace radio - replace centre stick (removed while working on new toe brakes for ease of access) - replace battery - fit prop - take to airport - wheel align - fly :-) Finding time to complete the work is the issue. There has always been speculation about the wing attach fittings being the weak point, but I think that was also proved to be a myth, at last year's gathering. Is this true or is this a false rumor? _______________________________________ Search the KRnet Archives at http://www.maddyhome.com/krsrch/index.jsp to UNsubscribe from KRnet, send a message to krnet-le...@mylist.net please see other KRnet info at http://www.krnet.org/info.html
