+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Myron, I think I'd replace that aluminum line with a hose like the one running to the carb and cover that with fire sleeve also. I don't think the hose will absorb the heat like the metal and would be much less susceptible to vibration cracking over the long haul. A 90 degree fitting on the top and a straight on the bottom would keep it close to the firewall. Or, maybe a 90 degree firewall fitting and then straight ends on the hose. Several options. I've had two failures over the years with metal lines forward of the firewall. One was a primer line and the other was a 1/8" line to the oil pressure sending unit. I've never had a problem with hose when they were of good quality with proper fittings. All my lines forward of the firewall are hose with flare fittings. I have a very short line from firewall to gascolator that is not fire sleeved and still no problems. I do have air blast cooling on my gascolator. Just a thought...... Larry
