This can be and is a major problem with some pilots come medical time. If diagnosed with it, I've been reading on the AOPA medical forum that medicals can be denied and re-instated only after going through some expensive testing. I don't know why a pilot would even mention it to an AME, but when they do it opens up a big can of worms. It's very flying related.
