Mark, let me weight in here, as the founding chapter president of EAA
chapter 1361 here in Reno and as past volunteer at Chapter 52 in Sacramento,
there is NO policy on the type i.e.; experimental or certificated aircraft
for young eagles. When we flew the VERY first sanctioned young eagle event
here at S4D we had RV's, a Pitts, and certified spam cans, and we had an
Army C12 flying the kids.

So unless they have changed the rules without telling us, I think it was
just some of those "uppity" types at the airport, and I think you know who
they are. (I really dislike those type people)

Whenever we flew we had more kids than airplanes most the time were always
happy to have extra pilots. My personal taste was for experimental because
we are trying to show the community what we are all about.

As far as your worried about lawsuits go, that can happen regardless of what
you are flying, but a GOOD ground crew to watch kids, pilot due diligence on
the ground and in the air and you should never have an issue.

I hope this clears things up a bit.
