Re: Hershy bar and other wing platforms. There is an excellent book called "The Illustrated Guide to Aerodynamics" by H.C. "Skip" Smith who is/was the director of undergraduate studies in aerospace engineering at Pennsylvania State University. It was published by TAB Books a Division of McGraw-Hill Inc. My copy was printed in 1992 and is the 2nd Edition.
On page 36 starts a section covering span , lift, aspect ratios, etc. The piece addresses the characteristics of different platforms using both equations, graphs and illustrations. Excellent reading if your into this. John Milland
