Hi Tom,
William says in his early manuals to remove and replace them. In later versions
of the manual He also says not to replace them if you are not comfortable doing
that and especially if the studs are tight in the case and did not turn when
you removed the head nuts/rocker arm studs.
Suggest you subscribe to the Corvair List which William reads and contributes
to on an almost daily basis.
