I just have "all" of my avionics on one breaker/switch, which is just the
radio and transponder. That breaker gets its power from the main breaker
like all of the other breakers. I can't think of a time I'd want just the
radio and transponder to be on with everything else off, but if the occasion
ever arose, it'd take about 3 seconds to switch everything off but them. I
do turn the avionics breaker off when I start or shut the engine down, just
in case of some crazy spike. I have another breaker with for "instruments",
which is turn and bank, GPS, EIS, mixture meter, fuel gauge, and that sort
of thing. For what it's worth...
