Darren, I to am doing a wider fuselage and I am planning on keeping the sides vertical. I made formers to temporarily support the sides while I stood them up and glued the cross members. I drew the cut lines on the formers to see if the angled sides was worth the trouble. In my opinion, it was not worth the haste and the "Bannana boat" issues so I left the formers rectangular. I would recommend cutting both the top and bottom cross pieces at the same time where possible to prevent dumb measuring mistakes.. Unfortunately, I speak from experience. Good thing it was only a mock up!
I also made the widest point near the trailing edge of the wing for 2 reasons, more width at the shoulders and supposedly it is best not to have an area of low pressure at the trailing edge near the fuselage. I am not a Aeronautical engineer, but the theory made sense to me. Proceed at your own risk! I'm anxious to hear the results of your screw vs Glue tests! -- Brad Payne www.n494bp.com bradleyspa...@gmail.com
