Refering to my recent post about the problems with getting my 0200 running
right. # 1 cyl would not run at low rpm. I thought that it probably had a
sticky exhaust valve so I removed cyl. and found no problem. Oh bummer now
what! I reinstalled the cyl and found that the rubber connection that links the
cyl to the carburator had a large crack allowing a vacum leak. After replacing
the connector the cyl ran at an idle for the first time in a while. I had the
tail tied down on the grass with a 3/4 in reinforcement rod driven into the
ground about 28". Sounds rock solid right? It allways had been before. After
a short warm up period at 1500 rpm during which I noticed that the generator
was working again I gave It full throttle and instead of the 2350 to 2400
static that I had been getting it surged to 2550 (maybe 2600) and the tail was
bouncing off the ground even though I had the brakes on and the elevator all
the way back. After about 3 seconds of this the reinforcement rod pulled out
of lthe ground and the plane jumped forward. I pulled the throttle instantly
but I still nearly rammed the bulldozer that the plane was pointed at. After
cleaning out my underware I got a big grin. Now that the generator was working
and the engine running smoothly every thing is done, ready for inspection. Wow
