NetHeads, It was another great Saturday for me in Australia, as I visited the KR builders at Serpentine, as well as 30 other kind folks there. I'm absolutely amazed at the activity at that little airport, and the variety of airplanes there. I had the privilege of seeing the first flight of a Flitzer replica, and the following flying: a Pietenpol "Scout" singe-seater that Bernie himself built in 1932 (Ford powered), a Bucher Jungmann doing aerobatics at low level, Graham Hewitt doing the same in his RV-6 (he later declared that RVs were not meant to fly straight and level), several ultralights that I didn't even recognize, a couple of Jabirus, Allen Buzza in his well done KR2, and not one but two incredible BD-5s flying tight formation at well over 200 mph.
In addition to Allen, I also met KR builders Wade Barron, Wayne Bone, and Peter Gilbertson. Wayne Bone is building a KR2S with the new airfoils that's been stretched another bay, and it is one gorgeous airplane. He's almost done with it, and I can't wait to see it finished. Wade cooked out for us on the BarB and it was a great day all around. Then I visited VaryEZ builder Don Railton for dinner, and had a great time sampling some local beer. I'll have to do a web page on this trip just to show some of the pictures, but I have definitely been shown a fantastic time by the Aussie builder and flying community. I should be home next weekend to do some KR flying of my own, but these guys have really got me fired up to improve on mine...
