Brad I do not understand the mix ( uniform white paste) The T88 I have used was an amber colour, and mixed up to a honey consistency. As Mark L says let it soak in for a short before clamping. I'm sorry I can not be of more help, but I did not have any problems. Once the ply is over the joint, it will be a lot stronger, due to larger surface area.
