Nick, I am new at this group, but up until selling my project a week ago,
was building a Ragwing Stork. Acceptable method on that aircraft, and FAA
acceptable is to create a angled scarf Joint 15 x the thickness of the
material you are joining. In this case if I remember right, 15x.5/8" =
9.375. You then get out your T-88 structural epoxie and glue it together. If
you have room on the inside, you can place a thin piece of plywood as a load
carrier. You may have to use a new piece of longeron in place of the
original, but a shorter one. As for the ply, If possible, I would replace
it. Even at a slow bird like the RW20 Stork (15 mph Stall, 65 cruise), the
designer does not recommend splicing plywood. EAA site has this same
information so would be avisable to read up if you can to make sure I did
not forget any thing... Have a good one...

Subject: KR> Snapped Longeron

I need advice. I was bending my fuselage today and one of the longerons
snapped, really good, all the way through, breaking the plywood skin with
it. Is that it, game over?
