I made brackets from .090" 6061 T6 to hold Bull Rings (after market pickup truck tie downs http://www.bullamerica.com/ ). These are rated by the vendor for 1000 pounds. The bracket is bolted to the upper and lower spruce caps of the forward spar about 2 feet from the wing tip. Access to the bolts is behind the landing lights. I put a small spring on each to keep the Bull Rings retracted flush with the lower wing surface when not in use. I discarded the vendor supplied fairing. I chamfered the skin around the ring so I can easily pull the ring down with two fingers. Total weight for two rings, two brackets, two backup plates, 8 AN3 bolts and stop nuts is 9.6 ounces. That is 2 ounces less than the two steel boat eye bolts that Diehl recommends and not counting the buried stop nut plate. http://websites.expercraft.com/sidwood/images/119137370543a80a28660f8.jp g
