VairHeads, I got a call from KR/Corvair builder Ron Willett the other night, inviting me to the Corvair Wings and Wheels fly-in at Alliance, Ohio. It's held on a grass strip at http://www.airnav.com/airport/2D1 , which looks to have the same generous dimensions as the grass strip on my father's farm. I couldn't make it last year due to weather, and I'm told it was a bit of a washout, but that didn't keep Bill Clapp from making it. Pete Klapp organized this last year, and I assume this year as well. I didn't really know who he was at the time, but now that I've met him at OSH and SNF, I can tell you he's a great guy and will probably have a top notch event. I plan to make this fly-in if at all possible, and hope to see other Corvair and KR builders there as well. I believe it's scheduled for June 8th, 9th, and 10th. I'll let Pete fill in the details later as they become available, but let's put it on the calendar now as a great excuse to get together in a couple of months...
