I just finished glassing the inside of my Backer Boots. I used only 1 layer
of glass, because it is so hard to get to the ends, especially the tail end.
I mixed up only enough resin for 1 boot at a time because it takes quite a
while to do one, and the resin was getting stiff by the end of each boot.
I used a lot of short strips of glass, anticipating that it was going to be
difficult to get inside. I suggest that if you are using a brush for
stippling, and I suggest that you do, that you cut the handle short, to make
it easier to work inside the boot.

After I split them, I will come back in with 1 or 2 more layers on the seam.

Those of you who have already done this, what areas did you apply stiffening
to, and did you just lay up glass, or did you build an angle using foam and
glass?

I also have set up my cowling to get piano hinges along the seam as it was
getting frustrating to deal with all those screws every time I had to take
the cowl off, and you know that I have had to do a lot of that because of
all these engine problems that I have been having. Also, I think it will
look better.
