Sorry, but I didn't use Dr. Dean hinges. They came along after my time. Don Chisholm (who unsubscribed last week, if I recall) first gave us the idea in an early newsletter while building his first KR1. I tried to make it work but couldn't find exactly the right components. Dean tried harder and made it work. I'll leave that question for somebody that's actually done it to answer. Mine are aluminum but use oilite bushings (shown at http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/kvs.html ). They are light and work fine.
