Dear All,

This is my initial post on this site. After much time considering what type
of aircraft I would like to build I decided on the KR-2S. I suppose my
decision was largely based on the incredible support for the KR planes
provided by this site. Before making my decision I spent a fair amount of
time time searching these forums and found answers to most of the various
questions that came to mind as well as a heap of other useful
information....and sometimes you get lucky - last Saturday I was wondering
how long it would take to sift through all the forum posts and figure out
the main/essential modifications that have been implemented on the KR-2S and
came home that night to find a post by Myron (Dan) Freeman that answered
exactly that question (the "commonly used and tested KR-2S specs" post).

I sent Rand Robinson a bank draft for US$ 300 on Jan 3rd and since
forwarding the money I have been phoning Rand Robinson on a daily basis to
enquire about shipping costs for the various kit components. Unfortunately I
constantly receive a message that simply says that the office is unattended
or they are on another call. Does anybody know if Mrs Rand had taken
holidays/vacation ? - I am aware (from numerous posts) that others have had
communication difficulties with RR in the past so perhaps this is par for
the course. I am in no great rush only having just ordered the Bingelis and
Rutan books but I live in Brisbane, Australia, and imagine I will be relying
quite heavily on US-based suppliers, so would still like to get things
moving. Can anyone on this forum advise if there are benefits in buying kit
components through Rand Robinson as opposed to procuring them through places
like Wicks, Aircraft Spruce or Tracey O'Brien's etc. I have read on another
site (Light Miniature Aircraft) where the kit/plans seller urges people to
trust his judgement and buy the landing gear assembly from him because it
will save alot of time and trouble in the long run. I am wondering if anyone
can advise if there are similar parallels with RR, ie., where it really
pays to buy KR-specific, purpose-built components from RR (not skins or the
pre-moulded turtledeck just yet).

 Thanks & regards
