Good Morning All, I have had a lot of e-mails on the celebration of KR's 35th birthday concerning having it at Oshkosh. In turn, I have discussed this with several folks in the KR family. We have decided to focus this event on the KR Gathering instead of trying to have it at AirVenture. However, we will also do some celebrating at AieVenture, especially in the campground at night, mmmmm beer...... If you know what I mean. Mark Langford will also be doing his forum this year focusing on the 35th birthday of the KR. I will also pursue some sort of recognition by EAA at AirVenture. Below is some reasoning as to why we will focus getting 35 plus planes at the KR Gathering instead of AirVentuer.
> Realistically, how many KR pilots will make the AirVenture event. Most > KR Pilots are afraid to fly to OSH, not because of their plane, but because > of the circumstances of congestion and problems that are associated with > flying in to Oshkosh. Sure, so far we have 13 pilots saying they will be > there > if possible. But I doubt half of those will actually show up. Then there > is the room and board thing. Not all will want to camp out. A biggie is, will > everyone be able to be there at the same time. That is very doubtful. So, I > was > wondering, should we not just focus our efforts in advertising the KR > Gathering as the 35th birthday celebration and work on getting more planes > there for KR Gathering. This only seems logical since this is the KR > Gathering and there are definitely more KR folks there. Plus maybe this > would be a huge incentive for more people to attend and fly their planes > to the KR Gathering. Then there is Jeannette, she would be there for the KR > Gathering celebration, as I doubt she would go to Oshkosh. AS always, any and all comments, suggestions and ideas are welcome. This year's KR Gathering is destined to be the biggest event ever in the history of KR. Let's make this KR Gathering one for the record books.
